Alumni: Richard Jones
Richard was born in the small town of Chipping Campden in the English Cotswolds, where his father was the headmaster of the local secondary school and his mother was a magistrate. He trained in Oxford, UK, as a medical laboratory scientist before moving into health service management at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals. He has a 1st (Hon.) in Business Administration and Computer Studies from Oxford Brookes University.
Richard first came to South Africa in 2000 as part of an inter-governmental hospital twinning project initiated at the time by Nelson Mandela (SA President) and Tony Blair (UK Prime Minister).
Richard and Zukiswa (Zuki) married in 2005 and they permanently emigrated to Kimberley in late 2007. They have two children; Thandiswa (b.2008) and Kwezi (b.2011). Richard also has two older children who live in England; Annabelle (b.1990) and William (b.1992).
Richard is currently a Chief Director in the Northern Cape Department of Health, a position he has held since 2009. Richard and Zuki started The Solomon Guest House in 2014 in Kimberley.
