Life after school
RAF at South Cerney, came out after four months. Headed for Australia but got a job on a microwave project in Iran and stayed there for three years. In Quetta I heard a doctor talking Urdu to a Beduin tribesman, but with a familiar accent, and so I said "Excuse me doctor, any relations in Chipping Campden?". "Yes, my uncle" he replied. In 1965 I joined English Electric Leo Marconi and trained as a mainframe computer engineer. That later became ICL. I first saw my wife riding a horse at the bottom of the Cheese Roll, met her at Cheltenham Town Hall a couple of years later, and married in 1968. We have two daughters who have done me proud. I moved to Brimpsfield, near Birdlip as retirement loomed ten years ago. I visited Miss David and took her some flowers. she knew what they were but said "Merriman, my sight has gone, I only see an outline. What do you look like now?". "Do you remember my father?" I replied. "Oh I remember Alec very well" she said. "Well, I look just like him" I said. "But he was bald!" was the quick repost. "So am I, so am I"

David, I do not recall my dad having a movie camera till he had my Bolex when I cam back from Iran, but no movies that I know of. I still have his plate camera that doubled as an enlarger.
Hi Peter, Great to see your news on this site. I remember your Father used to have a cine camera. Did the footage survive and was there any of next door?
Regards
David
