Chipping Campden Grammar School

A large muster of parents & friends attended Campden swimming baths on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings last week for the annual swimming sports in conjunction with the Grammar School. Competition among the girls took place on Tuesday, & among the boys on Wednesday.

On each occasion the prizes were presented by Mr.W.Matthew Cox, who was loudly cheered by the scholars.

Results: Boys: one width beginners – Franklin; one length under 14 years -Hine; one length under 12 -Bright; diving under 11-Bright; one length backstroke, under 15-Pyment; diving, under 14 – Pearce; diving for plates – Knight & Poole; obstacle race – Poole; biggest splash – Ridgeway; relay race, junior -Fereby House; relay race open – Hicks House. Championship: one lengthback stroke, -Ridgeway; one length speed test -Ridgeway; diving – Bright & endurance race, four lengths -Bunten. Winner of shield, open championship -Ridgeway; runner-up -Bunten. Champion House -Hicks.

Girls: one width beginners – J.Overland;  one width under 12- J.Overland;one length under 14 -J.Cutts; one length(Non championship event) – R.Bolter;egg& spoon – M.Sadler; balloon race – M.Wise; obstacle race –  J.Drury; fancy dress C.Nicholson & J.Drury; one width back stroke – H.Collins; swimming under water – E.Coldicott; junior relay – Townsend, Hicks; senior relay -Hicks, Townsend. Championship events: Two lengths, diving, one length back stroke & one length, E.Coldicott. Winner of shield – E.Coldicott; runners-up O.Morrey & J.Cutts. Champion House – Fereby.
