Miss David

Mary Fielding

Miss David taught History and Latin and was also Deputy Head in later years (mid-1950s to her retirement in ?).  She always wore her black academic gown, as nearly all of the senior staff did.  She was very kind and concerned about the welfare of the girls under her care.

I don’t know if she taught all periods of history, but she certainly taught first and second years Ancient History, including Prehistoric times, Ancient Egypt, the Mesopotamians, the Phoenicians, Ancient Greeks and Romans.

  • In my day Miss David also taught French and I remember her lessons so well and I have to say that French I remember now is down to her teaching. She was also deputy head and if any girls misbehaved Miss David was the one who meted out the punishment.
